"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up people to collect wood, assign them tasks and work. Rather, teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea."
—Antoine de Saint-Exupery

My passion is to help people discover and fulfill their highest aspirations, which, in turn, creates meaningful organizational change.

With individuals, I coach people through the identification of goals that represent the intersection of their interests and organizational needs. We focus on new techniques and behaviors for those areas, and often the underlying feelings and patterns that have previously kept people stuck. Together we determine how to recognize, measure, celebrate, and sustain success.

I work with teams in a variety of ways, including creating strategic objectives, understanding group dynamics in order to maximize the contributions of all members, and productively addressing conflict.

At the organizational level, I help leaders think through the talent needed to meet their current and future business objectives, and provide tools for leaders to take a more objective, scientific view of the current talent.

Background

Since 1998, I have worked in internal and external talent management consulting roles across a variety of industries. Before founding JMC in 2015, I spent more than 7 years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) helping individuals understand and grow their leadership capabilities. The department I led oversaw the organizational approach to succession management, the use of psychometric assessments and structured interview tools, competency modeling, and the employee engagement survey. I also co-designed and led the inaugural Physician Executive Development Program at MSK, and worked with clients from around the Middle East in Beirut, Lebanon and Doha, Qatar. Coaching clients at MSK included Senior Administrators, Nursing Directors, a Deputy Physician-in-Chief, and many individual contributors from across the organization.

I joined MSK in 2007 from Korn/Ferry International (formerly PDI), where I consulted with Fortune 100 organizations around the world on the assessment, development, and coaching of their high potential leaders. Prior to Korn/Ferry, I led the Selection and Performance Measurement function for Publix Super Markets, and consulted for Wilson Learning Worldwide. I earned my Master of Science degree in Industrial/
Organizational Psychology from the University of Central Florida.

An avid traveler, crossword puzzler, cook, knitter, and cyclist, I explore the world with my partner Matt at every opportunity.
I work with organizations and individual clients to understand the root cause of an issue and co-create simple, effective, solutions for sustainable change.

I cannot speak highly enough of Jessica Meyer. I have worked with her through multiple major career decisions. She provides essential tools, strategies, and advice to help me identify my core values and priorities, to align these with my professional activities, and most importantly to chip away at improving life-work balance. We have also retained Jess to work with multiple physician leaders, and she has been a superb resource for our faculty. She is a true gem — thoughtful, kind, resourceful, and smart — a trusted advisor.
Physician-in-Chief, Cancer Hospital
Academic Medical Center
The opportunity to work with Jessica was, without hesitation, one of the most important personal and professional activities of my career. Her kind and personal approach helped me to gain clarity on the values and purposes that animate my work and life. This prepared me—in ways that I could not have predicted, and to an extent that still surprises me sometimes—to step up to meet unanticipated opportunities to lead and serve in new ways.
Department Chair, Urology
Academic Medical Center
I lead a team of 39 physicians in collaboration with administration, nursing, and advanced practice providers at 7 sites distributed across multiple states. I had no administrative or leadership training before my appointment.

Jessica’s guidance as my coach was invaluable. She brought me through a process of self-evaluation and helped me to think about how to shape my vision for the service. She was supportive while (gently) providing valuable suggestions for development. She also led a small group of us with compassion and humor, with a remarkable sensitivity to the challenges of being a clinical leader. I continue to reflect on lessons I learned from Jessica and have continued to reach out to her when I find myself facing vexing problems. My time with her was immensely valuable and I would recommend her without hesitation.
Service Chair, Breast Medicine

Jessica is a masterful teacher and intervener. Her coaching technique focuses on raising awareness in an extraordinarily non-judgmental and unbiased way, so people learn about themselves but don’t feel attacked. Her method guides the coachee or team though a productive process that creates a clear path forward. Jessica enables teams to simplify complex problems and dynamics into an actionable and sustainable path forward. As a result, she creates hope!
Chief People Office
Healthcare Intelligence Company
Working with Jessica was a highly productive and engaging experience. I never had a coach before and wasn't sure what the process would entail. Jessica set clear objectives for our time together. She helped me identify areas I wanted (and was ready) to work on. Jessica's supportive but guiding commentary, practical tools, and consistent reassessment provided a critical framework without which I would not have made progress. Additionally, her candor, empathy, and humor made our time together enjoyable.

After our work together, I feel empowered to tackle new challenges and difficult situations by breaking down seemingly complex decision processes and working to consider competing interests in a structured format. As a result, I am more confident making decisions and better at anticipating areas of discontent for various stakeholders which affords me the opportunity to address those areas preemptively. This ability has improved my effectiveness as a leader and the engagement of team members, even when they may not be supportive of the decisions being made.

Jess has an immense wealth of knowledge on leadership but instead of overwhelming me with large volumes of information she always has a way of delivering very punctual punch lines that are applicable to my day to day leadership conundrums and followed by relevant but focused learning materials and practical exercises that allowed me to truly feel I'm becoming a better leader. Every time I came to Jess with a "real-life" challenging situation she wouldn't tell me what to do, but instead provide me with learning materials and "practical exercises" that would always somehow help me deal with the situation successfully in ways I would not have been able to think of on my own. I felt each session with Jess I learnt more than the equivalent of days and days of just reading leadership books No matter what I threw at her, Jess was always better to quickly identify the theme and context of a situation and provide me with the tools I needed to navigate my leadership journey successfully.

I greatly valued my coaching experience with Jessica Meyer. Her graduated approach to coaching was ideal for enacting real and sustainable change in both my personal and professional lives. She began with frequent sessions for identifying areas for growth, defining goals, and creating an action plan. We then moved to less frequent sessions to allow me time to accomplish my action plan and evaluate pre-defined measures of success. Her coaching philosophy is clearly client-driven, and she prides herself in adjusting her techniques to each client’s preferences while providing suggestions along the way. While coaching can end here, what I most appreciated is that she gave me tools to continue self-coaching, which I still use years later. Perhaps the best testimonial I can provide is that a year after we began coaching, several colleagues (unaware I was being coached) told me that I had become a noticeably better leader who conducted herself with composure, confidence, and kindness – and asked for my secret. Jess Meyer coaching!

I was uncertain of what to expect when I began working with Jessica. She educated me on the process and methodology, while gradually enabling my immersion in the experience. My participation provided a foundational framework that I reference regularly. Jessica has a differentiating ability to provide a relationship of trust, enabling growth, while continuously guiding you beyond your comfort zone. Deeply appreciative of the engagement.
Senior Vice President, Hospital Operations

Jessica is a very engaging and thoughtful coach. While she brings new ideas and necessary strategies to the decision process, she always encourages you to think through the approaches yourself and to develop your own pathway and style towards achieving your goals. As you go through the process of coaching and self-assessment with her, you can see yourself evolving and maturing in this process. She is always by your side to support and advise. Most importantly, she follows through and cares about your achievements. She is the kind of advisor you can trust and count on.

I had the privilege of working with Jessica Meyer as part of a year-long leadership development program. With warmth and professionalism, Jessica provided coaching I wasn’t fully aware I needed. She assessed my existing skill set and style of leadership. Jessica then helped me build specific skills and grow into areas where I felt less confident. She pushed me in kind and productive ways to develop even in areas of discomfort but without expecting me to be a different person. Jessica’s coaching style is insightful, personal, practical and nonjudgmental. Even now, several years later, I consciously refer to tools and skills Jessica helped me develop.

Jessica Meyer is a gifted and conscientious coach, program designer, and facilitator. I have had the pleasure of working with Jess for the past five years and am impressed by her ability to assess an individual's or group's development needs quickly and accurately. Jess is an extremely skilled coach, delineating the roles and responsibilities of a coaching relationship with absolute clarity, and setting her clients up for success that extends long beyond the end of the coaching engagement. She blends compassionate understanding with respectful challenge and is thus especially effective at helping her clients face issues that they might not confront in the hands of a less skilled coach.

Jess has a solid grasp of individual and group development research, and she deploys this knowledge to make well-grounded and creative decisions about how best to support an individual's or a group's development. Her savvy for navigating organizational and political dynamics, especially in an academic health care environment, have made her an especially valuable thought partner over the years. I have learned a lot from my collaborations with her, and have had a lot of fun along the way.
Leadership Development Director
Academic Medical Center
I had the good fortune of working with Jessica through an executive development program. With Jess’s coaching, I was able to develop a more proactive and intentional approach to my daily activities. As a result, I am less beholden to my calendar and inbox and have more capacity to drive forward longer-term strategic priorities.
Associate Director, Center for Molecular Oncology
Academic Medical Center
Jessica is one of the best coaches I have ever engaged. As a coach she has a unique blend of connection and creating a safe space all while supporting the coachee to identify and manifest important and measurable goals. Additionally, in our work together at an academic medical center, she shaped the coaching program for executive physicians and increased the impact of the program on the coachee and on the business.
Head of People Development
French Fashion House
Former Director of Organization Development at an Academic Medical Center
Jessica Meyer was an integral part of the Leadership and Organization Development Department for many years. She has directed and consulted on all major initiatives including executive coaching, leadership, management, and staff development programs, cultural and engagement studies, succession planning, interviewing and selection processes, competency modeling, and many more.

Jessica is a true professional, role model, and team player who always puts her clients' and the organization's needs first. She has made a significant difference in the lives of the Center's employees' personal and professional lives, which in turn has contributed to the delivery of compassionate and quality care provided to cancer patients at the highest levels possible.
Former HR Executive
Academic Medical Center
I worked with Jessica through many sessions over the course of a year. At a pivotal point in my leadership trajectory, I needed guidance on how to prioritize various responsibilities and navigate my way through a new institution. While I have had several executive coaches in the past, Jessica demonstrated a level of healthcare insight that greatly surpassed anything that I had previously experienced. Through regular meetings she set the stage for an appropriate balance between clinical, academic, and administrative endeavors. I have also encountered several difficult scenarios during my time with her that required objective input with the integration of knowledge about executive level dynamics, particularly in the healthcare setting. Jessica was outstanding in her ability to provide a productive path forward, and in each case the outcome yielded the result that I was hoping to achieve. I would recommend Jessica as an executive coach for anybody who is interested in accelerating their leadership path, or for those who are currently in high level leadership positions who are aiming to optimize their impact and relationships.
Vice Chair, Radiation Oncology

Jessica’s approach to coaching was both foundational and transformative at a time when all things at work seemed at risk. She offers a groundedness that enabled me to focus on opportunities that I alone could work towards while also challenging me to solicit meaningful support from my direct leadership. Learning that we all manage up and down across the organization, Jess helped me navigate being an effective asset for my leadership team while also helping me be my best as the manager of my own team.
